Seawallrunner and I headed out to the Olympic Coast this LDW. Anticipating inclement weather we packed goretex, lotsa fleece, tarps and an umbrella. We got...get this...three FULL days of sun and warm weather. Go figure.
We hiked in the sometimes wobbly boardwalk on Friday and got a primo campsite in the trees close to the water source. It is only about a 3 mile hike in. After a yummy dinner* we watched the sunset from a log on the beach. Saturday we walked up the coast to Wedding Rock. I'm guessing it was Wedding Rock cuz one lady pointed to it when we asked where it was and said "right there"...."it's obvious"..."they are all over the place". We never did see the petroglyphs. Guess they weren't obvious to us Saturday ended with a glimpse of mares tales (sign of weather to come), another awesome dinner, and another stunning sunset while we talked of hiking out the following afternoon instead of spending a 3rd night (avoid a slippery boardwalk AND beat the holiday traffic back to town). Sunday we lazily soaked in the sun (I actually got some sunburn) and then slowly packed up and hiked out under totally blue skies and warm temps.
I'd never been to Ozette and I can bet, Sandpoint is awesome (no campfires) and I do plan to return.
* amazing what you are willing to haul in when it's essentially a flat 3 mile hike in (stir fly with beef for the first night and brats with rice the second).

PiB made it to the middle of the switchbacks in the meadows
Prit-neer the top of the switchbacks...only about 200' below the last cut and the beginning of the long traverse.
That dang slope needs some mowing. Lots of that brush is leaning over into the trail with people walking and knocking down the edge of the trail. A good gas powered weed whacker would do the trail an aweful lot of good.
Awesome stunning views most of the day. I knew I'd never make it to the LO but since I've been there several times...I just put the dreaming cap on.

how about removing the confirmation page when deleting a PM? if i deliberately click to delete something, i would ideally like it to happen without confirmation, like all email programs.

I have a Breville (out of warranty) that needs some TLC. I think either the power cord connection is lose (not likely) or the power button needs a fixin' (more likely).
I can't find any place around that does small appliance repair. Most of these are out-of-business with the advent of disposable consumer goods. This espresso machine is certainly not disposable.
Anyone know of or recommend a good place on the north end ish (I'm Mill Creek ish) that does small appliance repair?
Tanks o latte!
I'm pretty sure that last line was PDF (pretty damn funny).

Why do you all of you tree huggers on this site love the wolves so much? I mean what is so great about them? Other than the fact that they eat the hell out of our game herds and kill livestock.
There are only a handful of reasonalbe people on this site.
Oh...I gotta save this one. It's a real gem. Gotta be one of the craziest comments I've heard in quite some time.
Sorry to break it to you Joe but if you don't like choss...the Olympics are full of it. Clark is pure crap. Deception is crapstastic too.
The Olympics are built of detritus stuffed into an ancient oceanic trench now uplifted. Lots of the country out there is pure garbage rock, worse than I've ever seen in the Cascades. One of the most grueling trips I'd done was in a day traveling from Home Lk up Constance Pass over Gunsight Pass down and back up to Deception Basin. Our plan was to get in early enough to tags some of the peaks out there. It was such difficult terrain we barely made it by dark and were we cut up and blistered. It was like traveling on shattered glass for 12 hours straight.
