We ate at Mondo's in Marblemount yesterday. Really good. Big, juicy sloppy burgers. Good fries, not greasy slimy strings - crispy outside, fluffy inside. Good service; the town handyman who helped refurbish the building is also a waiter there - very consciensious; running like crazy to get everyone waited on and served. Hopefully he won't get tired and lax! I'd like to try the teriyaki next time. The owner is japanese, and he probably wants to serve that as often as he can!

last year I sat down at that american style diner in marblemount (had great burgers/fries before...BUT noticed something wrong with the pricing on around 14-15$ with a sm. tip....actually got up and left. heck I can go to the eatery for a full meal and pay 15$ shakehead.gif KNEW they had good burgers at the "good food" ski hut place FOR 8-9$ WITH FRIES....not a hard choice there!! guess I'll eat at the american style cafe again, but just plan on 15$-16$+. this new burger place SOUNDS GREAT!!!!....well if it's 10$ around that????

Los Flamingos in Granite Falls is closed. The other mexican place is good though. Can't recall the name of it, but it's bright pink. You can't miss it. Opposite Walgreens

Just found this thread via a google search. Not wanting to go through 14 pages (to see if it's been posted), has anyone seen this document? http://www.mountaineers.org/foothills/hiking/Scramble%20Dining%20Guide%20V5%205-20-10%20_2_.pdf Yes it's out of date (2006) but a lot of places are still in business.

I ate at Mondo this summer and really liked it. After we finished our delicious burgers, the guy brought out sliced watermelon. It was perfectly ripe, and hit the spot on that warm summer day. biggrin.gif chow.gif

tried their beef terikay....good and enough for 2 at 13$.....it was sliced spicy beef ...or pork...on a hot plate.... hockeygrin.gif I ALSO POINTED out a bowl of ramen at another table, the left-over's looked killer!!!...though all the trriakiiey stuff seems a bit higher priced, it is good enough for 2.....

What, you didn't eat the leftovers at the other tables?????? That's how I get half my meals! Good to know about the teriyaki at Mondo. Next time I go, I will!

Wow, Mondo's must have really cleaned up their act (or they have new owners).. We ate there for breakfast one time and not a single thing was good between two people eating (and I'm not a picky eater by any means). Cold omelettes with rubbery cheese, soggy hash"browns" (more like mashed shoestring potatoes).. even the toast was crappy. The guy who owns (did own?) it is a nice guy and I always stop at his Shell station every time I drive through Marblemount, but myself and my buddy had the one of the worst dining experiences ever so caveat emptor. BBQ cart was good the first time I stopped in, but horrible the second time. There were so many chunks of gristle in the brisket, I couldn't eat it all. That NEVER happens. Marblemount needs help in the restaurant department. I usually stop at Good Food since at least the "quality" is predictable.

Screwing up breakfast is a sure way to chase off people, since it should be the easiest meal to prepare. Maybe I was just hungry, but the food was really good. I will never eat at 'good? food' again. That place is filthy.

Mondos morning cooks must suck, I have dined there 4 times, 3 awesome bacon burgers with steak fries and an awesome pork teriyaki served on a hot iron plate. As Gnome said, a bit price but plenty big enough for 2.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Bring on the food!! Leavenworth Gustav's - give it a pass. Lousy, slow service (on more than one occasion) and you have to pay extra for fries. Good beer though. Uncle Uli's - excellent burgers and sandwiches. No fryer, so no fries. Good beer list. You can sit outside. Dog friendly. Cute waitstaff. And they don't play oompha music. King Ludwigs - Speaking of oompha music, they have an in-house band. Cute bunch of older guys with accordians etc. Great German food. If you have a large group, go and get one of the platters. Roast chicken, pork, spaetzel, 2 kinds of cabbage. NOM! Good service. A little on the spendy side, but worth it if you want the Der Town experience. Visconti's - fancy, but excellent food and service. Nice seasonal menu. Of note: hubby got sick eating at the one in W'chee years ago, but we've eaten at the L'worth location several times without issue. They also own the gelato shop, the sausage garden and Cured - all in town. Icicle Brewing - You can sit outside. Excellent beers, live music, limited menu. Order the cheese/meat platter - local stuff. Even the locals go here. Kristalls - great breakfasts even if the coffee is lacking. Good service. Liked by locals. Cashmere Milepost 111 - excellent burgers, good beer menu. Local pub prices (this ain't McD's) Anjou Bakery - good stop for coffee and pastries. A little on the expensive side. Cole's Corner 59'er diner - shakes (made the 50's way, by hand and they are huge!) and burgers, fries. Very kitchy. Jukebox. In summer a lot of the ingredients come from the garden out back. Strawberry milkshakes anyone? The three YMCA camps on Lake Wenatchee have a competition every summer to see who can get people to buy the most milkshakes... Tell them "Lake Wenatchee YMCA". agree.gif Squirrel Tree They used to be really good and all the locals would come here. Under new ownership (and apparently having a hard time keeping employees.) I have not been there since it has changed hands. Headwaters Pizza (on hwy 207) - excellent pizza (1/2 price on thurs). Good fried stuff too, including pickles. Local beers. Not kid friendly (bar, not a pub). Local hang out. Muddy boots are OK. lol.gif

US 12, Cowlitz Valley has several places I won't try a second time. Spiffy, The Only Place to Eat, a drive-in in Morton is one place I've gone back to. Non-extraordinary drive-in non-chain burger joint. A real restroom, not a sanikan out back like some other place. And yes, TS, Morton is the east end of cell coverage. My Spouse does like a text that her solo hiker is off the hill. Something about being married to an old guy. Turn north towards downtown Morton, go several hundred feet, and turn right. It is a little hidden. Of course this is US 12. Tots are the menu.

Keep Calm and Carry On? Heck No. Stay Excited and Get Outside!
