I saw this over the weekend at the Rose Theater in Port Townsend. It was a fantastic movie, well worth the time. The movie is sort of a loose biography; there's a bit about the man's life and a lot of back story behind some of the photos and the people in them. Salgado is a photo-journalist who covered some of the most turbulent history of the last 30 years. As a result, parts of the film are heavy and depressing, but still worth seeing. Here are some of the photos in the movie, for people who are not familiar.
Many of these photos depict profound human suffering and they're incredibly beautiful to look at. Except for the subject matter these could be Ansel Adams photos, notice how the light sings and the shadows are deep and rich.
