Are any of you familiar with a 19th century/ early 20th century landscape artist by the name of JJ Englehart? There seems to be very little info on him on the web, I was trying to see if I could find a book, catalog, etc. that has his work in it. He is supposed to have painted a lot of Cascades scenery, including the Monte Cristo area. Thanks, Frank

If he/she was represented by a gallery, they will have all the info you need. Good luck.

Thanks Ulrich! I had seen that site and the cheap SOB in me is immensely irritated by the fact that they want to collect $11.95 from me for the privilege of looking at his paintings for 24 hours; on the off chance one of them is something of interest to me. I can't justify that much money to satisfy my casual interest! I did see a couple books that include him that I hadn't seen before, though. Thanks again!

If you feel like taking a road trip: http://www.mind.net/dlmark/gorgebaldwin.htm otherwise, you really can't find anything about this artist, at least on the internet anyway

the name sounds familiar, i think ive seen one of his paintings on the antique road show. i believe it was of the back side of a bull, standing in a field...

There's a mostly unspoken acknowledgment among the voluntarily impoverished that it's better to be fiscally poor yet rich in experience-living the dream-than to be traditionally wealthy but live separate from one's passions.
