I have a 6 year old autistic son and hiking is one of his favorite things to do. He loves to run so I have to keep up and I have to choose the trail very carefully. It would be nice to go hiking with another autism family. He doesn't have any autistic friends to play with. We live in Covington, any body close to us? An autism hiking group would be awesome too.
I am a Special ed. teacher who teaches students with Autism. I love in Anacortes. Yes activity is very important for these kiddos. One of my students really enjoys bike riding and hiking and has lots of energy.
My kids are slightly autistic and we can't take them hiking much because they are paranoid about bugs at this stage of their lives. They honestly are afraid that gnat swarms are going to attack them somehow!
We live in Yakima, so probably too far from south king county.
Do you know about Outdoors for All? They sometimes have group hikes in the summer, not to mention all sorts of recreational programs for kids and adults all year-round.
