On a trip along Pollalie Ridge back in '08, my buddy Tom and I encountered this inscription. We had needed to drop a bit, some 100 feet for maybe 100 yards to avoid a few undoggable rock formations. Dropped up just at the “e” of Polallie Ridge on the 15’ topo. On a tree at that spot, in a half overgrown blaze, Fred Steiner had left his mark on 22nd June 1916. Tree is now a beautiful silver snag, its growth presumably halted by the lightening that preserved Fred’s legacy.
Here is a photo of Lawrence "Lawrie" Lindsley. It was taken on August 20, 1912 near Lake Chelan. Lawrence Lindsley is with his horse Peanut and his dog Bobbie.
