No information is known about a lookout on Mount Persis but you will find it labeled as a lookout on several Metskers Maps. The trail is on early Forest Service maps as well. Structure or camp or myth....nobody knows. Do you? Looking for any evidence other than a map. Mount Persis Page

-------------- Done with peakbagging, pretty much lookout bagging at this point.
I never heard of a structure up there nor have I ever seen any debris from one. They may have just tented there.
I've been up there at least 50 times since the 60's and camped many times on top. I'm sure I would have come across something.
I bet you're right Randy. Makes sense that both the USFS and a private timber company would certainly want a lookout looking out for inventory. Odd there wasn't as structure though; I can't imagine that the lookout wasn't heavily worked.
-------------- "...Other than that, the post was more or less accurate."
..a lookout on Mount Persis but you will find it labeled as a lookout
Below is the lookout on MT Pugh. I've read that in the heyday it seemed as if every other mountain had a seasonal fire lookout. Wood or fabric. There is a data base to put these suspected lookout sites. http://www.firelookout.org/ You should enter it.
