Yesterday's wind storm took out a sizable alder on our neighbor's property. A little trimming on that maple and it will be better. View of The Brothers from our bedroom:
I was hoping to be "gifted" some firewood but nada. Big NE'r was but a whisper.
It's like the wind stopped at my property line. The neighbors got some falling done for free but my trees were well behaved and stayed standing. There are some snags I wish would come down on their own, but nooooooooo.
Oh well. The winter is young and I shouldn't wish for such things.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Neighbor said I could have the alder. It took out a decent sized wild cherry on our side. The alder ought to give over 3/4 cord. It was a big one. I have a few more cherry trees that I need to take down. Good start to next winter's firewood supply!
