Susie and I went for a walk around Sand Point today. When we passed one of the ponds at the south end of the park, we noticed a bird in distress stuggling and unable to move. We tried to find a way to it, but it was next to an island so there was no way. We finished our walk and then returned home. Susie cooked up cabbage rolls (yum!) while I watched the Seahawks beat the Browns. But it wasn't right. At halftime, she asked me if I'd like to take our canoe back and rescue the poor bird. We did and we dragged the canoe across a giant pile of bark to reach the pond. With scratchy branches in the way, we maneuvered out and Susie cut the bird free from the fishing line in which it was entangled. It took off rapidly into some trees and we feel it'll be o.k. We returned home and now we feel like we garnered some good Christmas karma. cool.gif

fishing line, balloons and ribbons and six-pack plastic rings contribute a lot to wildlife mortality when I see people release balloons I wonder if they ever consider the consequence of their action Good work and thank you

Thank you for your compassion towards another creature.
