This hits close to home, as I have several bottles in the garage. I find it tastes better after it is gone from the stores (it is seasonal, with a very short season, maybe a month). Scarcity seems to add flavor.
Trader Joe's sells a ginger beer in 12 ounce bottles all the time, but it has a different recipe, good but not a traditional Jamaican style ginger beer, it has more of a lemon-lime flavor. Reed's is another option for a "real" ginger beer, also available at TJ's for $1 per bottle, but it is not as gingery as the TJ brand in the larger bottle.
Another explosion: they jacked the price of my favorite steak by $4 per pound! $12.99 last week is $16.99 this week. Grr. They just lost a loyal steak customer. I will make a special trip to Double D meats in Mountlake Terrace, get it for $9.99.
