Hello all! At the advice of another Forum Member, I'm migrating this thread to Trail Talk from the Links Forum -- I hope that's okay with everyone. Night Hiking To Mars is a hiking humor thing that I write. Here's the 2015 "Best Of" article plus the two latest for 2016. Hope you like them! And I hope this is an appropriate place for them as well! Night Hiking To Mars Best Of 2015 NASCAR Fans Urge Hikers And Equestrians To "Share The PCT" The Northern Terminus Of The Appalachian Trail: A Modest Proposal

It is hiking related, so here is a good spot. And the quality demands an audience, which threads in the "links" forum do not get. "Clif Bar couldn’t possibly be interested in sponsoring hundreds of willfully homeless dirtbags with entitlement issues and delusions of grandeur. And from the other direction, thru-hikers wouldn’t be interested in Clif Bar sponsorships because after two months of eating them Clif Bars taste like cardboard and despair." lol.gif

My favorites: " If you don’t want it anymore it’s trash, and it isn’t any heavier than when you left town with it." "If you play Wagon Wheel every night for two weeks because it’s the only song you know, it’s entirely possible that someone is going to use your backpacker guitar to make a fire." "“The shelter isn’t full until everyone is in” does not apply to the guy who shows up in the rain and announces that because he decided not to carry a tent someone already in the shelter has to get out. Or he'll call SAR!!!*" *I added that part

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Glad to see these here instead of languishing on the links page. "Cardboard and despair" is so apt...

Really funny stuff, thanks for sharing. I wasn't aware of your blog previously. I haven't tried a privy bivy, but I could see the appeal if the weather was dismal enough.

Yes, but I've never found it to take two months, or even close to that... biggrin.gif

That's one of my favorites too! The photo is real -- it's two of my hiking partners on the CDT in East Glacier, MT.

You might not like who takes you home in East Glacier... Or the reason they take you there...

I discovered this site a while back and loved the issue of Bear selflies on the CDT. Very funny pics.

Where can I apply for my "Twiple Cwown" award? I even did the AT when 8 months pregnant, so that should be worth something extra! Of course that was 48 years ago….

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

Haven't written in a while, but have a few ideas in the works, so more shortly. For now, hope you like this! “Why on Earth would you speed hike?”
