I will be on the Bare Mtn trail tomorrow climbing another peak in the area. Does anyone know if the bracken ferns have been brushed back. The last wta report mentions them as shoulder high but I seem to remember a posting mentioning trailwork done there. And how is the North Fork Snoqualmie Road going in? I have high clearance.

Thanks
Thanks 2drx for the input. I will be climbing a peak called Canoe. It is Pt. 5706 above Bear Lakes. I will stop in at the mine along the way and look at all the cool stuff too. I hope the rock crusher hasn't been carted away yet. To have the bracken brushed back makes the hike much much pleasant as it would have been very wet otherwise.

Yes, I partook in the experience of the whacking of the bracken fern!

if you are going in via the bare lakes route into the mine basin as it sounds like you will be, the trail has been brushed to at least the turnoff switchback. When I was in at the end of July, they had brushed to just beyond that point, but about two switchbacks above the turnoff it had not been gotten to yet. The stories I'd heard of endless huge bracken are now more believable, I can't imagine doing the whole lower stretch when it's like that, the upper section was a freakin' jungle of ferns. All wet, too. Just like I was 0.5 seconds after entering the mess. I don't know about the crusher, sounds like I missed something up there, but the steam donkey engine is still in place and way cool.
