I took this from the lodge at White Pass while taking a lunch break from skiing. Don't be fooled by the fleeting sunshine, the majority of the day was dominated by howling wind driving thick snow horizontally across the mountain! Every time we got off the lift one side of our faces would be so numb as to make talking difficult. Still, the quickly moving blizzard made for some interesting time lapse conditions.

Wow--great capture DarkHelmet. I'm bummed I missed out but I'm thankful for people like you who were able to get shots like these! Do you frequently monitor aurora activity or do you get some sort of alert via an app?

Thanks! Yes, I go out a couple times a year to try and shoot the Aurora
I use two apps on my phone. Aurora Alert and AuroraNotifier on android.
There is also a facebook group with a bunch of WA aurora chasers.

Thanks! the music track was one of the free ones offered by youtube. it is very nice.
The timelapse would have been longer, but this was my first time using my sony a7ii for star timelapse. I had the camera setup in my tent vestibule. The shutter noise was too loud to let me sleep. So i got up and stopped it. My other camera, a sony rx100m3 has a virtually silent shutter. I am going to have to figure out a way to get around the noisier a7ii shutter. Not sure I like moving the camera far from my tent.....
