Yes the heavy weight is the only negative on the spec side on theese boots. But the way I see it, I cant get both light weight and durability. My last pair was a Salaomon Cosmic 4D GTX. Great comfort, but after a couple of months the goretex membrane leaked and the heel started to be crushed on one side. I am 288 cm and 100 kg. The extra weight on the norwegian welted boots will just make me more fit I guess smile.gif

288cm? You're almost nine and a half feet tall? How has the NBA passed you up?

Herman survivors would have a tint to the what looks like black leather? My gut says you latched onto a fine pair of shoes regardless. The detail of the uppers show a full tongue? nails or screws into the real vibram sole is a very good sign. Don't wear these guys when you paint your deck with a broom. Could they be Danners?

In the heel of the leather insole I can see some text. "Sweath shrink crack" "Fixtan" "Western" "resistant" Very happy with them, fits me perfect, treatet them with Obenaufs. The leather looks good, but worn. The only cracks in the leather I found is on the heel of one boot. Didnt notice this before the treatment. They are heavy! 2,8 Kg. Added a few more pictures. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwqYgyzqhn9GLS11VlptcW5vQ1U

Hey Pablo, how are you doing? I haven’t been on here in quite a while. I hope your well. The Mazamas I got from you are still going strong but the heel pockets have gave up the ghost. And I’m about to resole them for the forth time now that it’s getting cooler I can get out and do some hiking. My Gronwal’s are about to be sent to Dave Page to replace the lacing hardware, two bad winters doing off trail back packing in the Smokies have taken their toll. I gave up the idea of some custom Van Gorkums as I heard some stuff and his web site is no longer up ,so... any way,the boots you sent me are comfortable and still going strong so why bother. I’m planning a big trip out your way to Mont Baker, looking for great place to go there. Hopefully I can get the time off. Any way, just wanted to say hi,you take care. James

currently looking for backpacking partners for next may for a week in the trinity alps, asnd some other trips and help on a book that will involve tons of camping

Do leather boots add confidence to the hiker who overthinks?
