My Charlet mosers I used old detergent washing machine bottles as they are thicker than milk jugs.
First: Grind steel crampon bracket edges "round" instead of their "squared" shape.
Second: use hot air gun, soldering iron, hot glue gun, or at minimum, hair dryer to bend the plastic around the crampon brackets.
Third: Riveted the HDPE plastic together. You could use bolt/washers as well. Would need loctite on the nut to keep it from unscrewing. Would have to be really BIG washers otherwise will rip out.
My 1st set died, because I did not grind the edges on the steel crampons "round" where the plastic went over it. After I ground my crampons sides round, the second set has lasted and lasted and ... well, hopefully I never have to redo them ever again.
Only drawback? Can't use the crampons without the anti ball plates as they are fixed in place. On the other hand, why would one NOT want anti ball plates...
??? How??? I used DT and they disintegrated in a few hours...
2nd set I used a stiff plastic bottle behind the DT and then they lasted almost 2 days...
Just did 5 thousand layers of DT? I always thought that might have been my problem... Didn't use enough.
Lexan Plastic (polycarbonate) is really tough stuff. You could get a small sheet at your local big box hardware store. It will not shatter, I've bent it in sheet metal break 90°.
