Riding from Gas Works park in Seattle to Marymoor park in Redmond, and back, on the Burke-Gilman and Samammish Slough trails is 50 miles. And it doesn't matter where you start, so you could drive to Kenmore and go one direction first, then the other direction. Sure, you might have to watch out for some pedestrians and roller bladers, but that seems better to me than dodging SUV's driven by texting addicts.

You may ride to Stanwood/Camano. This route is nice both ways: http://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=33101. Southbound 530>Miller>Norman is nice. Now I don't know about Marine Drive south of Stanwood. Not the most straight forward, and it may involve taking the right rut of the road at times, but the route has always been nice for me, out of these times; Evrt>Anacortes, Bellingham>Seattle, Seattle>Arlington>Silvana>Bellingham, twice, and one other time Stanwood-Seattle round trip. Well, don't do it when boom city is booming/on the 4th. This route, including the Centennial Trail from Snohomish to almost Arlington, is awshm the other way around, now pretty much Cascade Bike Club's RSVP route: http://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=33095. http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/mapcruncher/Gallery/NWBike/

Jeff, The Interurban Trail goes from Everett to North Seattle. Some of it is on streets and other parts follow a dedicated trail. http://www1.co.snohomish.wa.us/Departments/Parks/Park_Information/Park_Directory/Regional_Parks/Interurban_Trail.htm

The Centennial Trail starting in Snohomish is nice, especially the northern part. http://www.co.snohomish.wa.us/documents/Departments/Parks/maps/ctcorrectedinterim2011.pdf

Take the loop around the south end of Lake Washington, use Lake Washington Blvd on the East and West sides, take the detour loop around Seward Park if you wish, go across the I-90 bridge. This is a fun and scenic ride. You could make it a lot longer and hillier by going around Mercer Island. Stop at Kidd Valley or Ivars in Renton if you experience a calorie deficit along the way. burger.gif

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Tried the Interurban tonight. (north from Capitol Hill) It gets weird and you have to pay attention at every crossing in places it seems. I lost the 'trail before 200th. Didn't have a map or the phone so I turned around after a little failed route finding. Will try again with a map. Rode around Green Lake on the way home, checked out the gravel trails and dirt jumps. up.gif

Jeff, not north, but: check out the trail between Chehalis and Raymond. "Willapa Hills Trail". not sure if it's completed yet. was a "rails to trails" project started years ago. runs parallel to Washington HWY6 - from Chehalis up to Pluvius and then down the Willapa into Raymond. just a thought.

Snoqualmie Valley Trail South from Duvall. Can turn around by Remlingers or continue to Snoqualmie Falls. Pretty Flat near the river then fun trestles higher up, a few horses but they are nice folk.

I've been interested in the SVT. Maybe this week, maybe today!
