My beloved Patches died last week. I'm looking for a springer spaniel to rescue. Ideally the dog will be housebroken and between 1-5 years old. I rescued Patches from the pound when she was 5 and she had a great 8 years with us. http://mosswalks.blogspot.com

My sincerest condolences to you. My four-legged hiking buddy for 11 years was a Springer/border collie mix. Very special dog! You might start your search with PetFinder.com. Best of luck to you.

It's my considerable experience with springers (4) that 5 Y/O is too late. You can't teach an old springer new tricks. PS I'm sorry for your loss.
Puppy teachable moment.

Patches was a bit of a biter, we could not untrain that.. frown.gif But my daughter did train her to quit getting into the bathroom garbage.

Thanks everyone, I'm really heart broken. I was an agent in her accidental death too, so that makes it even worse. frown.gif

Sorry to hear that. It really hurts, doesn't it? I hope your next best friend finds you soon.

Some people have better things to do with their lives than walking the dog. Some don't.

So sorry to hear of your loss! "We give our hearts to a dog to tear." Mine has been torn since I lost Hysson three years ago. I opted not to get another dog because, due to aging, I'm increasingly reliant on public transit where dogs can't go. I hope a new partner finds you soon!

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

I am terribly sorry to hear about Patches. I remember the pictures of her very well from my perusing the site. I will keep an eye out for springer spaniels...may her memory live on in the memories with your new buddy when he/she finds you.
