Old timers on nwhikers will remember Doxie, my black doodle. A few weeks ago he developed a very aggressive lymphoma and, after a walk on the beach this morning and a smoked-salmon lunch, he went to sleep. He was a very good dog and always knew where his brother's ball was. He climbed 18 top 100 PNW peaks, including Mt. Adams, and many smaller ones. He was 12. Here he is, with brother Boonie, in the meadow under Dumbbell:

Dog's are the greatest. They both look so happy in the picture. My condolences to you. I hate it when pets die. But the great memories don't.

My deepest sympathies! My Hysson (avatar) also went out with lymphoma, leaving a big hole in my heart. "We give our hearts to a dog to tear."
May the wonderful memories of Doxie help you to heal!

I'm so sorry to hear about Doxie's passing. Our mountain canine companions share so much with us...they are lucky pups and we are richer for it. May the wonderful memories help to ease your loss.

Sending hugs and thoughts of new puppy kisses (someday). It's so very hard when our animals leave us; they offer us so much unconditional love. May the Four Winds carry Doxie safely home.

I'm sad to hear he has passed. I hope you have wonderful memories of him to carry you forward.
I found a few pics of the boys - Snowgrass Mtn area in late Sept 2007.

Thank you, posters, for the kind sentiments and the memories. I wish I could convey them to Boonie who knows his litter mate is gone. (Boonie knew there was something terribly wrong with Doxie before the vets were able to identify the problem and misdiagnosed him twice...) Take good care of your pups: yes, as the last poster put it nwhikers have the best dogs. tdd
