Several folks have posted their trips up Scotchman, NE of Sandpoint on the Idaho-Montana border. Here is Friends of Scotchman Peak Wilderness' May & June newsletter. They've spent a decade seeking congressional wilderness designation for the area. They're fairly full service. Naturalist education aimed at children and adults, in town social activities for adults, lead hikes from toddler friendly Ross Cedar Grove to multi day over the mountain bushwacks, and the last couple years, trail maintenance. http://www.scotchmanpeaks.org/Newsletters/May-Jun15_FSPW.pdf

The Scotchman Peaks folks are great. They've done a ton of work getting everyone on board to create a new wilderness area there, from miners to local property owners, but their congressperson sounds like they don't seem to care.

2016 early summer Scotchman trail projects: http://www.scotchmanpeaks.org/stewardship/events-schedule/ Of note also is an interpretive hike focused on 2015 fire in the Scotchmans.

Fall Friends of Scotchman stewardship events. Planting whitebark seeds sounds particularly interesting. The trail #65 work is at least phase 2 of reroute of chute that goes straight down the call line. You feel like you're following mules pulling logs out of the woods. I didn't hear that they are going to start right away on phase 3. Maybe they want to work somewhere else for awhile.

Scotchmans' is hiring a half time, twenty week position starting early December. Presumably in Libby or Sandpoint. Sounds like at least a moderate amount of time outdoors. Best. http://www.scotchmanpeaks.org/fspw-is-on-the-lookout-for-a-winter-employee/
