Katie and Patrick once again came over to the west side this past Friday to spend the night hanging out with me and to go on a short hike on Saturday. Joining us on this blustery wet day was Martin S and Craig W. The plan was to head up the maze of FS roads in the Stampede Pass area to the Cole Butte Benchmark trail head where Martin would strike off to the west peak following old logging roads and crossing some forested/slash areas, while the rest of us walked the nice old trail to the main peak. The drive went as advertised by Eric W’s recent trip report and we both made quick work of our hikes arriving at our respective summits within a few minutes of each other (~3.5 miles round trip and ~600ft vert). Once back at the car we started back but not before taking one more side excursion up Crossover Butte where an old wash out stopped us short of the summit leaving a quick .75 mile round trip and ~300ft vert walk to the top.
Wind, rain, clouds, and some fleeting blue patches. Back in town early to go to the annual T100 party Sat night...
