Took the Excelsior trail on Sunday. Snow was packed down by lots of travelers on the trail. In fact I never put on snowshoes until on the south arm below point 5712 at 5440+. From there I followed snowmobile tracks/skier tracks all the way until just below Peak 5930. Easy snowshoe up to 5930. I was racing to see if I could beat the oncoming weather from the south. Alas, I was 30 minutes late to the top. Light blowing snow and fog predominated. So....no photographs. On the way down around 4000 feet was a mix of snow...until 3500 where it was rain until back to the car. 6.5 hour round trip.
A Subaru was smashed right on the North Fork Nooksack bridge just east of Glacier on my return. Several ambulances. Did not look good.
