We did this one as a day snowshoe last year and only made it in about 7.5 miles before turning around due to waning daylight. This time we planned for an overnight and it was just the perfect weather for it. Loved the views of Whitehorse, Mt. Higgins, Round, Glacier Peak, Baker and the Stillaguamish Valley. With Dan Nelson's book being 15 years old now, he doesn't mention the radio and cell towers on the southern end of the ridge, but we had fun going cross country and exploring the views from the top anyway. Other than a few snowmobilers, we had it all to ourselves!

Very nice, Snuffy! We walked a few miles up that road last week past the SnoPark in our Microspikes, but it was too cloudy for any views, so it is nice to see what it looks like in clear weather.

Thank you, Nancyann! It really is a beautiful area, but a long walk in if the weather doesn't cooperate, I imagine.

Nice, and different, trip report. I love the snow pinwheels and the angle of Higgins with Round next to it.

Nice snow camp!
Did you take a photo of your camp? And I'd love to know how Skadulgwas is pronounced!

Thank you, Kim. For a lower level hike, I think it offers some great views!

Thanks, Snowdog! Yes, I took lots of pictures of our camp but the perfectionist wasn't too happy with how it turned out so I didn't post too many. I'll be doing a little write up on it on the blog, however!
