168 Days Hiking 116 in Washington 29 in Utah 12 in Oregon 5 in California 4 in Canada 2 in Idaho 281 new peaks, peaklettes and various nondescript bumps Things were fine until I made the mistake of being home in early October and badly damaged a toe by hitting it on a table leg as I sat down at the computer. I didn't summit anything but the second floor of the house for the rest of the year. It's always safer outside.

You are an animal! Lol... you might want to start looking for a good deal on a log splitter though since you are getting old..

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

441 miles 173,000' gain 42 trips over 58 days 74 summits, 62 new High point: Stuart, 9415' Best Larches: Williams Butte A slower year for me than normal; the first year since 2009 where I didn't comfortably break 500 miles and 200k of gain. But still managed my seventh straight year of more than 40 trips, 58 or more days out, and more than 70 summits. If at my usual level of activity will do my 1000th summit this year. Really want to get out of state more, and do more high traverses.

I wrote up my stats and impressions for the year on my blog: http://wp.me/p2oxMr-1yO The short version: 114 miles. 52 hikes and nature walks, including a bunch of little ones at Yellowstone. Lots of new explorations and a few good old friends. More hiking with my kids' friends (that is an accomplishment in itself.)

I had a good year of hiking and photography. My favorite hike (maybe ever) was my summer trip to Snow Lake, in the Karakorams. My longest dayhike was a 30mi/6100ft elevation gain jaunt on one of my conditioning hikes. The not-so-fun part of my year was the 5 weeks lost to a stress fracture in my left foot, caused by sesamoiditis. I used to keep stats to track my yearly progress, but hadn't the past 3-4 years due to laziness. I know that I had 27 hiking trips in 2016 on which I took the camera, and probably more on which I didn't. I'd guess, based on previous years when I did keep stats, that I had around 60 trips, with ~150,000ft of elevation gain and about 600mi hiked.

I had an absolutely amazing year. I don't keep track of miles or elevation gain since it would be too much, but I climbed and traveled almost continuously from early may through September. Here's my 2016 year in review: 2016 trip reports I was in California and Nevada rock climbing January to late April, Alaska may-mid June, Peru from mid June to early August, WA cascades most of mid to late August then Canada after that with many short trips to canadian rockies and bugaboos. I also write this from new zealand at the moment!

The Pacific coast to the Great Plains = my playground!!! SummitPost Profile See my website at: http://www.lemkeclimbs.com

A good time for you to start keeping track of miles and vertical gain! Luckily for me, I only compete in the 73 and older age category!
