West Seattle? Ah, right, I lived there for 15 years. est. 15" on the ground here in Eburg. 55" fell at Alpental Thurs-to-Mon. Whacky deep up there yesterday.

Up here in Mount Vernon we got about 1/2" of snow today, now it's raining. North of us was hammered...again. We ALWAYS miss all of the fun....no fair!

1/4" to 3/8" of ice on everything this morning in Spokane. That was on top of the 3"-5" of wet snow we received yesterday, which was on top of the existing 12"of snow on the ground. Plenty of accidents and slide offs, especially on the higher ground west of town. Most Spokane area schools are closed for the day.
Why does this matter? Because we did have some decent "urban skiing" until this ice coated everything. The sorta good news is that all the ice should be melted by later this afternoon, but the freezing level is going up pretty high in the process...Gotta love the weather, it is rarely boring!

Similar snowpack cross section here in Eburg, maybe a bit thinner rain-crust on top. If it warms up enough to soften the crust I'll hit the local wildlife park with my fishscales, hoping that tracks I set there yesterday aren't too clapped out by foot traffic.

Amazed how much stuck here in the last hour. Just a few remnants from last night an hour ago. Now it's a winter wonderland.

Big fat flakes starting mid-day. Piling up faster than melting until about an inch then the sun came out and it went away at least at sea level.
here's what it looked like when I took the pup for a walk this afternoon...

Everyone talks about the tough winters here. This is what it looked like on my hike yesterday.

A bit muddy on the trail in places.

I've heard weather can be harsh in Bend. Cold, seemingly endless grey and the coming and going of seasonal residents.
Nice pics though.

I long for those constant sunny warm Seattle Winter days!
