Started out a bit gray but the sun came out. I... didn't ware sunscreen. Now I have the burn to show for it =/. They were doing AC when we arrived but finished up quickly afterwards and with conditions at Moderate we decided to press on to Artist and Huntoon Point. Not too many people out. A great day! That's a heck of a day pack. One of my first snowshoes was to that spot, years ago. The views certainly helped spark my alpine addiction.

I need to work on my pack/gear optimization. I have just been taking a huge (not full) pack every time. Definitely on my list of high priority things to improve my hikes/skills smile.gif. Artist Point really is beautiful -- although I'm kicking myself for not remembering sunscreen!

Yes, take it with you and reapply. But put a base layer on exposed skin while dressing that morning--particularly throat/chest area, ears, back of neck as well as the face. The more you are out in the snow in bright sun, the more opportunities for reflected light to hit you too. Even as the season progresses you will be hiking over snow at elevation. Some of us wear bandanas under our hats to protect the neck and ears. ~z
