What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

During the five-day ordeal she recorded video messages to loved ones, fearing that she wouldn't survive.
Eventually she was rescued after hiking seven miles to find a phone signal so she could contact the emergency services.
My 16 year old daughter cannot survive going more than 16 hours without her phone being recharged. The horror my daughter has to live with! Its inhumane!
My daughter obviously needs to read this story.
She hiked 7 miles in 5 days? A college student? Hmmm...something is weird here....
I am still stuck at her running out of gas 7 miles off the main road and not even close to where she was going, so she would have run out of gas even on the main road.
Who cuts it that close on gas when launching out for a hike in the wilds?
To her credit, she had more extra water than most people. "Only" 3 bottles a day is far more water than the average person would have ventured out with.
I guess the moral of this story is when google maps tells you to turn and there is no road there....don't turn.
And don't be driving around on an empty tank when exploring the desert.
Yes, good to have plenty of gas and water on dirt roads around that region. And sanity check advice from nav systems (and don't assume roads on Delorme etc. type atlases exist as indicated).
