Planning on backpacking this Sunday into the valley...read some reports that it's snow covered from O'neil camp and on, trail covered, post holing to your hip, and definitely needing snow shoes to make it to the chalet
Anyone been out there in those conditions? Any thoughts? I'm slightly reluctant since I have never snow-shoed and how accessible it is to get around with all that snow (side trips)

If you did this I'm really curious to know how it turned out. I have a vacation in 3 weeks and would love to take a trip up the valley if it isn't too snowy. If it is, I'll go to the beach.

I didn't see that one from today. Thanks for posting! I'll keep my eye out for more.

Nah, my friend had gotten sick the days before so decided on something a little warmer and less miles, we had a great time camping out at ancient and dusty lakes
Perfect time to go, mid 50's and sunny, no rattlesnakes, felt like we were in a western movie
Probably do enchanted valley in a few more weeks

A little longer than a few weeks but we'll be out there this Sunday...the plan is to hike to the valley, camp, next day try to make it to Anderson glacier...not sure the conditions up to Anderson pass, possible snow shoe scenario, back to camp and hike out Tuesday
I'll have to write a report when I get back

Anyone know if any particular area is better for camping to avoid bears in camp...also, is the way to Anderson pass Avalanche prone?
