Tim J and I climbed Arrowhead Mountain on Saturday, avoiding the rain forecast for the west side. We had steady rain on the drive to Stevens Pass but by the time we arrived at the parking spot for our departure point we were greeted to overcast skies and an intermittent mist. In the woods the mist was basically non-existent. Snowshoes were used on the lower mountain and by mid mountain travel was firm enough for occasional post-holing only. Once on the summit ridge we switched back to shoes and had to break trail in soft/heavy snow while putting up with an annoying wind. It was cold on top with limited/no-views. Deproach went without issue and with improving weather. ~3400 ft delta elevation and 5.5 miles round trip. A few pictures follow.

Repeated this endeavor yesterday. Parked the car 0.3 miles east of the railroad bridge over US 2. Crossed the tracks and hiked east ~1 mile to the same clearing on the right. The snow is firm and we didn’t need snowshoes or crampons up high. We followed the route of climbers from last week. Beautiful day until we hit the traffic jam coming home. I should have bought a burger to go at Zeke’s.
