thanks to stefan, eric and greg's t/r (https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8023324) we had a nice trip idea.
avy forecast was considerable, so of course we avoided any areas with signs of avalanches :>)
since the weather forecast was short on the predicted sunshine, the avy danger was lower than predicted.
it was nice pleasant snow from the car to the summit. route finding was easy, even if matt said i was veering too far right(or was he speaking about politics?). whatever.
we had a great time and even through a bonus bump on the ridge, dicey's dimple, to round out the day. note to eric - sorry if i beat your time to the summit and we did a bonus bump too. if you work out really hard this spring, i'll wait patiently for you on our next trip together :>)
5.93mi 3286' gain 3:29 car to summit 0:23 summit stay 3:22 summit to car (including a side trip to a bump on another ridge) 7:14 car to car
equipment: snowshoes, ice axe equipment brought, but not used: crampons, avy gear

For anyone considering this route, I want to note that, despite b00's photo, it is well protected from avalanche danger. The entire route upward (traversing over Point 5500) is in mature forest or on ridge crests. Near the bottom, we encountered two places where earlier wet snow slides had come down creek beds, but they were narrowly confined slides, and actually could be avoided entirely by walking closer to Nason Creek. As it turned out, the temperatures stayed cooler than expected, and the snow only warmed moderately on the surface, so our return route ran across some more exposed terrain bypassing Point 5500, which I wouldn't recommend if avalanche danger were higher.
