Lopper -- how did you get a photo down the valley from the lookout site? Even in 1977 it would have still been thick with trees.
Puzzlr: There is a steep drop to the south from the lookout site. (an opening in the tree-carpet shows on current satellite pics). That being said, the trees in the the foreground of my autumn 1977 picture have had forty years to grow more foliage.
It might be interesting see a contemporary view. A leg-stretch detour on my next MFK outing? Pics are so much easier to snap these days. The 1977 shot was from an under-exposed Kodachrome 25 transparency, via Minolta Dimage scanner.
