These two are called Twin Spires, or Mox Peaks. Pathetic naming either way.

Very late... but I stumbled upon this thread by reading a TR of Cleman Mountain and Selah Butte.
To set the record straight, Big Bosom Buttes were named by noted U.S.G.S. geologist Rowland Tabor, when the pair of us ( pun intended) traversed the ridge from the north to south on August 2, 1967. We were doing geology and were dropped off on the far north end of the ridge by heli. This was during the culmination of a three year long congressionally-mandated investigation to determine if the area had previously undiscovered valuable mineral resources. It didn't, and in 1968 the North Cascades National Park was established.
The traverse of the ridge was quite sporting, especially getting down off the north butte. As I recall, goat trails came in handy.
In the my post that follows, note the correct BBB are on the left in the image, and the wrong ones are on the right ( which poster Nomad on this thread misidentified, but still they are good candidates).

Ask and ye shall receive.
Which pair is BBB ? - I think it's the rounded pair on the left, but my viewing angle wasn't very good. I was somewhere up on Winchester Mt. (I think). |
Yes, the BBB are the two on the left. Compare with the previous two posts on this very old thread.
