The new GOES-16 weather satellite (launched Nov 2016) is now fully checked out and delivering incredible resolution with a 5 minute update instead of the 15 min of old. Check it out. click play at lower right to get the animated version. It covers CONUS, so you can select other regions in the menu bar at left. There is a disclaimer notice since it's an experimental presentation of the data, so there may be changes but it is well worth checking out.

the rain shadow is textbook today, a straight line right down the Wa and Or cascades animation is quite cool
