I headed up Mowich Road this morning to hike Paul Peak and found all kinds of crap had gone on in the TH parking lot. I'm sure it was a bunch of non-hiking people who were up there partying, but it just really made me mad. I picked up all the trash (filled a 30-gallon garbage bag) and hauled it out. I did have a wonderful 6.5 mile hike with not another human being anywhere, which was today's goal, but it just makes me so mad to see such careless people. I can think of 4 charges on federal property... graffiti vandalism, dumping garbage, illegal fires, and shooting a firearm on NP property. Done venting now.....

People that get caught doing that should have their cars, trucks, firearms, snowmobiles, and/or dirtbikes confiscated and sold at auction, the proceeds to the relevant agency.

gotta love pickin' up some moron's trash when all you wanted to do was go out and look at some tree feet and some rocks.

Thanks for doing the cleanup. It feels unfair to have to be someone else's janitor. But you get from me and others here at least.

Dang nice job cleaning it all up!
That side of MRNP/Mt. Baker Snoqualmie NF is really rough. There was a report on the WH&C Facebook group not too long ago about some folks car camped just across the Carbon River bridge who were confronted and chased off by a group of party kids with booze and guns in the middle of the night... Joy
Even back 15 years ago when I worked for the Forest Service we didn't make it up onto that side of the Ranger District that often to patrol (spent most of our time in the 410 corridor). I'm guessing it's gotten worse with reduced budgets and staffing.

Snowmobiles and dirtbikes do not usually exist as culprits at the scene of the same crime...

Thanks for the clean-up .. And...did I hike the Paul peak..and if so how was the trail? I've been thinking might be time to try the loop which is such a splendid trip. Any thoughts?
Thx
