11 days ago it was snow-free for the first 2 miles. It was drivable in a high clearance truck to 2.5 miles. After that, it was still snowmobile and serious 4x4 territory. It's been cold out here lately and we've had some new snowfall, so I don't think there has been a significant change since then.

Those mileages must be starting from Salmon La Sac? There was a recent trip report from Waptus River indicating it was snow free for the first few miles.

Ok, I LIVE There and I'm embarrassed to say,,,,,,,,, what is the Cle Elum Valley road?

The road leading to the Deception Pass TH, Cathedral Pass TH, Tucquala Lake, etc.

I just glanced over that report and they don't mention going up Cle Elum Valley road. I don't know much about the Wapus River trail but a quick Google search shows the trailhead being at the end of Salmon La Sac Road, which has been snow-free for quite some time.

Where the road forks, just after the horse camp and before the bridge. The right fork is Cle Elum Valley road (NF-4330).

The road that goes to the Hyas lake parking lot? Strange.

It's actually officially called Fish Lake road, not "Cle Elum valley" road. Although interestingly, I now see that Google Maps calls it "Cle Elum Valley drive." But the FS calls it Fish Lake road. They are both confusing; Fish Lake is also called Tucquala Lake(s), and the Cle Elum Valley stretches all the way from Hyas Lake down to the city of Cle Elum.

Officially it is NF-4330. On maps I've only seen it named as that or Cle Elum Valley road.

Cooper Lake Rd.: As of yesterday, Sunday, 21.05., once could motor to within about 2 miles of the bridge at the outlet. Your mileage may vary. Meltin' fast.

While we are talking about NF 4330, there's this pic from last Fall by BPG. Does anyone know if the mudhole/bog across across NF 4330 situated beyond Scatter Creek ford and before the Paddy Go Pass TH has been filled in or repaired? ~z
