Hi friends, Idaho person here. Several friends and I are heading to washington's cascades in 2 weekends for a friday afternoon-sunday night backpacking trip.
I have been monitoring North Cascade NP and other areas for weather/snow and was wondering what peoples suggestions are. We are experienced backpackers in both summer and snow so if its open, we are down to do it.
Ideas we have thrown around are NCNPS or somewhere like Ingalls Lake.
We are hoping for some mountain range views but will not be doing any technical climbing.
Thanks all

Might be doing some road walking to get to Ingalls Lake trailhead, not sure that it will be completely melted out in a couple weeks. Trail should be reasonable even if mostly snow covered. Fantastic view of Mt. Stuart from the lake and also from the camping area at Headlamp Basin.
A lot can change if it stays sunny and warm, and it varies by location and aspect (south facing melts out sooner of course), but in many places there's still plenty of snow above 4,000 ft. elevation currently.
I'd say just keep monitoring trip reports on this site and Washington Trails Association's site to have an idea of how accessible various trails are.

The road to Ingalls Lake TH was snow free to the DeRoux Campground yesterday. Good chance it will be melted out in two weeks if it isn't already as it's only 2-3 miles and 400' higher from where we parked. Snow on trails from 4000' on out of DeRoux CG. Creeks running very high, expect that to continue through June, so stay on trails with bridges over creeks.
The dirt portion of the road is a bit rough in places esp. at the beginning but regular cars can make it OK.

Eastern Pasayten (Horseshoe Basin)? It melts out early (but probably still lots of snow in mid-June, especially this year), and is far east in the Cascades (closer to you). Slopes are gentle, which helps if hiking on snow.

That area has been inundated with heavy rains so the road may have problems. We shall hope not.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
