I hiked this once about 7 years ago. I don't remember any rocky areas. Any ideas where he was? RIP to the deceased whatever happened frown.gif http://komonews.com/news/local/rock-falls-on-man-and-kills-him-near-index

INDEX, Wash. – A rock fell on a 21-year-old man near the Heybrook Lookout and killed him Friday afternoon, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says. Snohomish County Search and Rescue launched a rescue mission about 1:30 p.m. after getting a report that the man had been scrambling across a rock field near the lookout when a rock fell on him.

Just to the left of the base of the lookout in the photo. You can see the top the Rocky section if you zoom in.

I've heard that the fatality happened not on the Heybrook Lookout trail but on the north side of the lookout, from a Mountaineers' scramble training route. Will have to check that out!

Not a day goes by when I don't drive by and see cars there now. Was a time during midweek when there wasn't a soul there.

He was a former student of mine. A really nice guy who was well-liked by just about everybody. A devastating loss for a lot of people.
