Biting Black Flies.... I read some of the past posts about the biting black flies in the Winds, from what I understand, Deet is not a 100% cure for keeping them away. "Sawyer's Picaridin Spray" and lotion is reported to work on flies, ticks and mosquitoes. I also pre-treat my clothing with their permethrin insecticide.

Nothing we had worked. The only thing that kept them from eating us alive was the clothes we wore. You even had to wear non button up shirts!! No shorts!!

Looking at the map. I think we should look at Mae's Lake a little farther up the valley. It's closer to Pyramid Lake and the lake valley to the West of it. Also to the trail that goes up to Hailey Pass and Twin Lakes. Just a thought. wink.gif

Called Meredith at the Pinedale Ranger Station this afternoon. Said we should be good to go with he snowpack when we go in July. They have real bad flooding because the record snow they had is melting quickly. She also said that camping at Skull was a little more quiet and off trail than Marm's. But she also said that the fishing was better in Marm's and it is more centered if we want to explore and fish over Hailey Pass, Pyramid and the basin to the west. What a valley that is!! So, let's play it by ear and see.

I'm good for either lake, Maes or Skull, they both look good to me.
