Harbor Porpoises in Puget Sound Saw 3-5 hanging out near King Spit on Hood Canal all last weekend. Kinda cool to see them when doing something so mundane as taking the garbage down to the street or going into work. Seem to be seeing them more and more lately. Especially when the water is calm. Underscores the importance of doing what we can to keep Puget Sound as clean as we can. Anyone have any idea what their original numbers would have been? Saw somewhere that their estimated numbers are around 11,000 recently.

I see them all the time. The only time I don't see them is when the Transients are around. I believe there are many hundreds/thousands out there. Easier to spot when there isn't much chop. Generally if I sit and scan the water for 5-10 min I can see them. Also Dall's porpoise.
