Hex Mountain is on the ridge east of Cle Elum Lake. In the fog today is saw a big quadruped make a jump and a half, as I turned to focus. Based mostly on motion (not enough) the first thought in my head was 'sheep'. Is this even a possibility? Based on tracks the hill is full of muley's, from top to bottom.

Keep Calm and Carry On? Heck No. Stay Excited and Get Outside!

The mountain sheep in Washington are all most entirely transplanted, as the native ones where killed off by the 1920s. There are both California, and Rocky Mountain species that were reintroduced in many areas. Mountain Goats are located through out the Cascades of Washington. Anyone who's spent much time on ridge tops has probably seen some. The ones in the Olympics where transplanted before it became a national park. They are actually not a true goat, but a form of Antelope. You could get some idea of the larger areas where these populations reside, from the allowable hunting areas in prescribe in- http://dfw.wa.gov/publications/01903/wdfw01903.pdf There's a hunting area on the south side of I-90 (Umtanum) from Cle Elum. It would certainly seems reasonable some sheep would be distributed north of there.
