The N. Fork Teanaway River Road (FS-9737) is still closed at the Iron Peak Trailhead... leaving a 1.1 mile road walk to reach the Esmeralda Basin Trailhead at the end of the road. The Ingalls Way Trail is basically snow-free to the junction with the Longs Pass Trail (5400')... then a few snow patches to ~6000 feet... where we found continuous snow up to Ingalls Pass (6500') and on over to Lake Ingalls (6463'). We hiked around the east shoreline of Lake Ingalls and scrambled the ridge over to Stuart Pass and Point 6656 (aka Stuart Pass Hill). On the way back to Lake Ingalls I opted to visit the 6000 foot basin NE of the lake before scrambling back up to the lake... where we traced our steps back to Ingalls Pass and down to the Esmeralda Basin Trailhead... leaving the incredibly fun 1.1 mile road walk back to our car. 13.2 miles roundtrip, gaining 3849 feet of elevation. Photos, trailhead directions and downloadable GPS track of our trip to Lake Ingalls and Stuart Pass Hill. ..

"Teanaway 70" Peaks List... a guide to hiking and scrambling in the Teanaway Area. ----------------

A day that started out cloudy fortunately turned into a stellar day of photography and hiking.
