Any personal recommendations for a light weight backpacking tripod for smaller cameras? Would like something reasonably wind resistant.

I just bought a Joby with ball head. Not your conventional tri pod. Weighs 1.6lbs.

I'd suggest you go down to Glazer's there should be a number of good choices for stable enough tripods and heads at 2-2-1/2 pounds.

Another happy user of the Trailpix for my Fujifilm XT1. Here's my superlight setup: 1 - trekking poles (must ensure your hiking partner has a pole for the 3rd leg) 2 - Trailpix Custom plate 3 - Osrso FRT-02 Mini Ballhead (cheap on eBay if you can find one) 4 - Desmond DAC-25 Arca-Swiss Quick Release plate Total for this excluding poles is about 137g or 4.8oz, or 0.3lbs As much as this is my go-to when trying to mitigate weight on the trail and I'm happy with it, it's no substitue for a real tripod with a solid ballhead if you're doing serious photography. This gets the job done without weighing several pounds.

The trail pix seems like a nice solution if you have multiple trekking poles. I use them, but neither my wife or son do. I also use one of mine to support the Tarptent. I did order the ultra pod II. At 4 ounces and >20$ it seems like it was definitely worth a try. I am seriously thinking about machining a custom trekking pole tip camera mount. Probably just use some 1/2" 6061 Rod, and with a appropriate cone on one side, and threaded 1/4-20 on the other.

I can't speak any more highly of this tripod: http://www.slik.com/DS-SPRINT_MINI_II.html I've had mine for at least 5 years and absolutely love it for smaller cameras. Stable, functional and weighs under 2 pounds.
