You can usually stay at a casino in Reno for less than a KOA of course it could get expensive if you gamble. Just check Hot Wire.

Hannah's original partner decided to go through the Sierras as far as she could go while Hannah decided to move North beyond the Sierras with a new posse and will be meeting one of her best friends from college in a few days. She hopes to come back after completing Washington and doing that section.

There is a PCT 2017 Fb page that you have to be invited onto and there are some crazy pics and videos on there that my daughter has shared with my wife and me. I am glad she went around and will be doing that section last. The one video had a group of people with clothes and packs on holding onto a large log while floating down a swollen river among other scenarios. Her initial partner decided to go through right now and is somewhere struggling through slowly but making progress.

Forgive me Wildy if I'm being presumptuous, but I think after things have calmed down a bit after the girls are done with the PCT it would be really cool to have a NWHikers get together in Wenatchee to celebrate there triumphant return..... What cha think?

They might like that I am thinking they will be finishing at different times and places though. Hannah was suppose to watch the dogs so we could fly back east and visit but her boyfriend and her have a vacation planned after the PCT. Something seems strange when you think about it, " I am doing the PCT, then going on vacation" however a get together for a good cause would be OK. She just called me and she has completed her 1,090 mile seemed in good spirits with a lot to say all though she was hiking when she called and I only heard about 50% of what she said.

Good to hear from Hannah in good spirits, making good progress, her merry band is in Oregon now and my wife is sending her resupply boxes today. She said she can't wait to visit with me on the trail in Washington so I can enjoy her stench.
Moving on up !

She seems more stable than the girl who threw her boots over the cliff in the movie (hearsay, I haven't actually seen the movie). Go Hannah!

Any updates on her location? I'm in Shelter Cove, Oregon this week with family -- right on Odell Lake.
I'd be happy to buy her a meal at Shelter Cove's restaurant.

I'm currently planning to do the Diamond Peak Wilderness Loop (Shelter Cove, Odell Lake down PCT to Summit Lake then around the west side of Diamond Peak, returning to Shelter Cove) Wed-Fri this week.
I'm looking for good reports on the PCT over Diamond Peak as far as snow and mosquitoes. So far, hikers are reporting the PCT (up to 7k elevation in places here) is easily tracked but there are still snow banks.

My daughter just got back from 10 days on Mt. Baker/North Cascades Institute as an instructor with this program. She said considering the diverse range of background and geographic locations the girls brought to the group it was a huge success. The girls were very involved in the training/learning process, all summited Baker and later made inspiring personal presentations at the Institute to finish the experience. She seemed about as moved as the day we picked her up after finishing the program as a young teenager.

It sounds like an amazing program and I'm hoping to inspire my daughter to take part in two years when she is 16. Thank you for the feedback from your daughter and the humble yet empowering response to teaching others.
As I just told my daughter in a text, I never thought I'd wish I was a 16 year-old girl. What an amazing opportunity.
