Anyone been to the top of this badboy? How is it? Is it doable without rope? The route info is kinda varied from person to person, might be too late as well. Any beta would be a swell gesture! Thanks and cheers!

That peak tends to have moat issues getting onto the rock. The rock is reputedly class 4 if on route but I think I recall the rock isn't very good. Very exposed snow/ice traverse once over the ridge to the summit block on the approach, at least one fatality there.

I climbed Monte Cristo in mid-May a number of years ago. Kicking steps to the top worked well but getting into the end of July likely means much of that snow is gone now. Can you wait until next year? From Barlow Pass to the summit took six hours.
