Backpacking trip #2 for our 2-year-old son. We had just finished a family vacation in Wyoming and wanted to escape the crowds. We had the bottom of the canyon to ourselves for a night.
Great hike through a thermal basin without any people crowding around with selfie sticks.
We went down the Seven Mile Hole trail, but had to walk a mile on the road because it is closed to Inspiration Point this year. So a total of 6 miles each way and an elevation change of about 2,000 feet.
For a fairly popular trail midway through summer, there were a lot of blowdowns that required removing my kid carrier. Seems like not much trail maintenance being down right now there.
It was our first time hiking in grizzly country with Jasper, so we carried bear spray. More than once, he called it bug spray and tried to grab the can from us.
