Was that infinity pool the outflow of Iceberg? Iceberg and Avalanche have long intrigued me, but the route up from Goldmyer has been well documented as hellish. You took an interesting route! Thanks for the TR.

nah that pool is just along the well-worn bootpath between glacier and chikamin lakes. indeed, i've heard nothing positive about the burnt boot approach. maybe in winter.

I'm considering a similar trip this weekend, so I was very happy to find your trip report. Would crampons be worth bringing? Your photos don't show much snow, but reports from previous years seem to be suggest they might be helpful on the north side of Chikamin.

I did it all in minimalist shoes but did pull out the axe briefly on the final slope down to i-berg, or rather up in the morning when it was much icier. Microspikes would have made for slightly faster going. But this is the only spot I recall having any snow. The gully I took down from the PCT was by far the sketchiest spot; there might have been a better one slightly west. (Most people of course will just approach via Chikamin Lake.)

I like it. I never wrote a report but I like it. Very wild with some otherworldly passages... and some minor bushwacking wink.gif I enjoyed your pictures, very nice.
