Hi,
A friend is visiting from out of town and the two of us are planning on hiking the north coast from shi shi to ozette. Hoping to coordinate a shuttle with someone to get back to our vehicle at the shi shi trailhead. Any takers?
If nothing else works out, there's an Olympics shuttle service. We used them on our Ozette to Shi Shi trip. Might seem expensive at first - until you factor in the costs for gas, ferry, car wear and tear, trailhead/Makah fees for a second car, plus the extra shuttle time. Then the cost seems reasonable.
I am wanting to do something similar and am looking for someone to coordinate cars with. What dates are you looking at? I'm looking at last couple days in august, first few in september. Not sure on dates, but tides improve into September. I'm thinking of starting in Rialto, ending Shi Shi.
The plan was to arrive Saturday 9/2 around noon at Shi Shi and leave Ozette Sunday 9/3 around 5. We were going to camp near point or the arches because everything south of there is in the quota area.
Just a thought. You could all share the shuttle service, if it ended up both parties wanted the same itinerary. That would really bring the cost down. And depending on itinerary, avoid the Makah permit and parking fees.
Excellent that you noted permits are limited at Alava, north and south Ozette, and Seafield Creek. Do not underestimate the Ozette ford (best done at low tide) and the truly rugged travel from PoA to Seafield.
