I really wish that layer didn't turn off at the higher zoom level. Trying to convince my brother-in-law that we might have a problem. Cabin there in the North Fork. Crews I think wrapped it and the others by now. Possible sprinkler system with pumps but the river is a couple hundred yards out front. Thing is if it goes the chance of rebuilding is nil. Many happy hours there.

Wrapping an important structure on the Jack Cr. fire.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human末animals and aliens are great possibilities

I agree. At first I thought I was doing something wrong as I zoomed in. But realized that's the limit. ~z

All I see is the perimeter data on your map. It's the modis that turns off at higher zoom level.

CalTopo gets rid of older modis hits to keep the map clean. "Color indicates age - red is detections less than 12 hours old, orange is 12-24 hours old, and yellow is 24-48 hour sold." http://caltopo.blogspot.com/2017/09/caltopo-guide-to-wildland-fire.html

I can't figure out how to get Caltopo to display fire info. Care to share? There is something wonky about the perimiter map for the Diamond Creek fire. Take a look at the Northern edge of the fire perimeter. Hard to believe it has a such a consistently straight boundary at it's Northern edges.

I ran into a youtube channel of a guy who has been recording some videos of fighting the Jolly fire. I thought it was pretty interesting.

Gawd, they've made sack lunches even worse! ('cept for the night of the green meat sandwiches). He's got an easy job.

Could very well be a dozer cut fire line.

Wonder where he gets the time to make videos. When I was on fire crews we had little slack time.

He's an engine slug this time, and looks to me like their job is to hang around the houses for just in case. I was kind of wondering the same thing, but I bet they don't have a lot to do if assigned to the building protection group.
