Friday September 29, 2017 19:01 PDT Dear Interested Party, The Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Calawah Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Project is now available for a 30-day public review and comment period. The proposed action was designed to meet recreational needs in the area while protecting watershed values and minimizing impacts to Forest resources. The EA compares effects between taking no action and implementing the proposed action. The Proposed Action includes the following: Designate about 22 miles of Forest roads and user created OHV trails for use by OHVs 50 inches wide or less (Class I and Class III OHVs). Construct about 0.25 miles of new OHV trail. Rehabilitate about 6.6 miles of user-created trails to focus use on the designated trail system and reduce impacts to Forest resources. The Preliminary EA and maps are available for review and comment at the project website (hard copies are available upon request): http://www.fs.fed.us/nepa/nepa_project_exp.php?project=38717 Electronic comments must be submitted online via the project website listed above. On the website under the “Get Connected” heading to the right, click on “Comment/Object on Project” and follow on-screen instructions for submitting comments. To view submitted comments click on "Public Reading Room". For detailed instructions and more information on the comment period process please see the attached letter. This project is subject to comment and objection pursuant to 36 CFR 218 Subparts A and B. Comments submitted can affect a reviewer's ability to participate in an upcoming objection period. If you have questions about the project or the comment process, please contact Kim Crider, project lead, at 360-956-2376 or kcrider@fs.fed.us. Thank you for your interest in the Olympic National Forest
