Dave and I ran up Green today. It was a lot spicier than we thought it would be due to super steep and exposed forested slopes that were incredibly slick. Veggie belays were our friend on the ascent and the descent! I can see how there was a fatality somewhere up there a few years ago. The route was super straightforward. Park at the concrete bridge over the Middle Fork, hike the Sitka Spruce Trail, past the CCC Road to Absolute Last Promontory, then up Green's east ridge from there. Navigation is easy once you leave the road because you follow the ridge all the way up and it is fairly gratuitously flagged.

Even though a memorial for John Wright is at Absolute Last Promontory, John's fatal accident in 2012 did not happen on the ridge you climbed. Based on where his body was found below cliffs at the westernmost of the three Green Mountain high points, rescuers believe he was trying a different route further west.
