An anti-bullfighting activist protesting the gory sport on Sunday was attacked by a bull when he jumped into a French arena in an attempt to protect the animal, police said. A man in his 30s and a woman attending the event in Carcassone in southern France sneaked their way into the main ring, AFP News Agency reported. The incident happened during the "novillada," when younger bulls are placed in the ring. A bull charged toward the man, stabbing him with its horns and causing "a long but not deep" injury, police said. The woman was not injured. A source told AFP the man "was very lucky" and was not "properly gored."

A couple of recent "Award" winners from the Wenatchee World.
Quote:
CHELAN — A Seattle man pulled a gun on a Campbell’s Resort employee on Monday after the employee refused to give the 35-year-old man a ride in a golf cart. According to a probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Chelan County Superior Court, (name withheld) around 11:30 p.m. approached a Campbell’s employee working near an electric golf cart and then asked for a ride. The employee said no. The employee told Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies that he grew agitated
Well yeah, no ride? Of course he was agitated... curse.gif

EAST WENATCHEE — A Peshastin woman was injured early Wednesday morning when a large truck ran over her foot at the intersection of Grant Road and Highway 28, police say. She was at the intersection at about 2:15 a.m. and was trying to flag down the semitrailer driver for a ride,

MANSFIELD — A woman was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in critical condition Tuesday after she exited a moving vehicle, authorities said....“decided to exit the vehicle because of an argument” as it was traveling 40 mph on Highway 172 and then struck her head on the ground.
Nothing good ever happens at 2:15 in the morning...when you're trying to flag down a semi... or trying to exit a moving vehicle. shakehead.gif

Rather difficult for a truck driver to know exactly where his wheels will be when he's making a turn. He can guesstimate but it's not like he has cameras on all the wheels. Would say the woman is at fault. And yes, removing one's self from a vehicle moving at 40 mph without injuring one's self can be rather tricky.

This is gutsy and stupid and hilarious all at once. I see the jets flying Okanogan every time I'm there, but never this!

I don't know about training value. It shows fairly precise flying. Yeah, they're in the dog house.

Details on the extra-solar, which means interstellar, object found on it's way back to interstellar space after passing the sun, in Oct. Cool!
Quote:
On 19 October 2017, the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawai`i picked up a faint point of light moving across the sky. It initially looked like a typical fast-moving small asteroid, but additional observations over the next couple of days allowed its orbit to be computed fairly accurately. The orbit calculations revealed beyond any doubt that this body did not originate from inside the Solar System, like all other asteroids or comets ever observed, but instead had come from interstellar space. Although originally classified as a comet, observations from ESO and elsewhere revealed no signs of cometary activity after it passed closest to the Sun in September 2017. The object was reclassified as an interstellar asteroid and named 1I/2017 U1 (`Oumuamua) [1].

DONATE USB DRIVES TO HELP US SMUGGLE OUTSIDE INFORMATION INTO NORTH KOREA. Believe it or not, USBs are a significant form of sharing information in North Korea. Many citizens have devices with USB ports. So for many years, North Korean defectors have organized efforts to smuggle outside info into North Korea on USB drives to counter Kim Jong-un’s constant propaganda. But these groups were buying USB drives at cost with limited resources. Flash Drives For Freedom is a campaign that travels the world inspiring people to donate their own USB drives. As a collaboration between the Human Rights Foundation, Forum 280, and USB Memory Direct, Flash Drives for Freedom is significantly increasing the capacities of these North Korean defector groups.
